Dan Ruth, partner in Balch & Bingham's Corporate Practice, has been honored with the Birmingham Business Journal's 2021 NextGenBHM Award. This inaugural award honors emerging local leaders who are making waves in the Birmingham business community by leading new ventures and initiatives and taking on critical roles in their organizations. Dan advises multinational corporations, private equity funds, closely-held companies, start-ups and nonprofit organizations on a broad array of corporate and tax matters. Dan frequently counsels clients with respect to federal, state and local economic development issues. He also advises clients with regard to creating and investing in Opportunity Zones.
This year's NextGenBHM award winners were featured in the February 1, 2021 edition of the Birmingham Business Journal. In the feature, Dan shares that his greatest accomplishment to date in his legal career is becoming a partner at Balch and having an opportunity to work with people “who are truly committed to the betterment of our state.”
When asked about the most pressing topics in his practice area, Dan commented, “Economic development polices for inclusive growth, with a focus on sustainable startup ecosystems. But depending on what happens (after the recent election), the impact of another federal tax overhaul may rocket to the top.”
