BIPOC Lawyers Opportunities, Culture & Connection (BLOCC)
Balch BLOCC actively supports, but is not exclusive to, Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) lawyers through gatherings that aim to foster cross-office collegiality. BLOCC also works with members across the firm to highlight the unique challenges facing racially and ethnically diverse communities and promotes addressing any barriers that may exist to the retention of racially and ethnically diverse groups within the firm and throughout the legal profession.
Through this initiative, BLOCC supports the firm's recruiting functions by attending recruiting activities and events. Just of these few initiatives include networking and roundtable sessions at Alabama, Cumberland, Howard, Mississippi College, University of Mississippi, Stillman College, Vanderbilt, and Washington University; panel sessions at various regional and national events; and, presentations for various student-led organizations across the firm’s footprint.
