Claire Johnson Joins Balch & Bingham’s Birmingham Office; Bolstering Environmental & Natural Resources Practices

Balch & Bingham is pleased to announce Claire Johnson joins the firm as a member of the Environmental & Natural Resources Practice.

Claire counsels large utilities as well as industrial and manufacturing companies, helping them navigate environmental regulatory compliance issues, environmental permitting, and environmental litigation. Claire also assists on corporate and real estate deals by conducting environmental due diligence. Claire has experience with a wide range of environmental statutes, including the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) and state counterparts. She works with EPA and state environmental management entities to help clients navigate enforcement actions.

Claire received her J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School where she was the development editor of the Environmental Law and Policy Annual Review, as well as the president of the Energy and Environmental Law Society. An active member of the Birmingham community, Claire is a member of the Freshwater Land Trust Junior Board and Land Committee, the Junior League of Birmingham, and the Heart of Alabama Walk to End Alzheimer’s Planning Committee.
