Balch & Bingham’s John Banks, attorney in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Litigation Practice, will serve as a co-chair for the 2021 Opening Retreat hosted by the Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) on Nov. 11-12.
Youth Leadership Forum of Birmingham is a community awareness and leadership development program for high school sophomores and juniors. Through monthly programs and skills workshops, participants collaborate with adult leaders, discussing a variety of issues that affect their community while gaining insight into the complex decision-making process that is essential in addressing these issues. John participated in the YLF program his sophomore year of high school and is a member of their 2012 class.
During the Opening Retreat, participants will explore leadership concepts, develop open communication and understanding of diverse backgrounds, values and opinions.
YLF was founded by several members of Leadership Birmingham’s first class who felt that a similar program for high school students would not only benefit the students, but also the community as a whole.
