Josh Archer, Managing Partner of the firm’s Atlanta office and member of the Litigation Practice, was featured in an article published by The Daily Report on February 10, 2022. The article, “With Associate Burnout Concerns Increasing, Law Firms Seek Solutions”, discusses strategies law firms have employed to address burnout among associates, including hiring additional attorneys and focusing on mentoring and monitoring associate workloads.
The article highlighted Balch’s mentoring program that assigns associates with two mentors- a junior partner and a senior partner. The program, which has been in place for about 5 years, has encouraged communication and allowed associates to feel comfortable discussing their concerns with issues such as burnout.
“The idea is that some of the junior mentors are a little closer in experience and age, and the associate may feel more comfortable speaking with them,” said Josh. “The senior mentor is more a senior partner who can not only give advice but also the appropriate time to sponsor.”
As the managing partner of Balch’s Atlanta office, Josh directs a litigation team who handle a variety of business disputes involving commercial, employment, intellectual property and other claims. This team approach is effective in handling single party and class action suits. Josh represents business interests in cases proceeding in state and federal courts including personal injury, property damage, product liability, commercial contractual disputes and eminent domain condemnation cases on behalf of utility clients.
