Balch & Bingham Litigator James Dawkins Selected For Promotion to Major in United States Air Force

Balch & Bingham is pleased to announce James Dawkins, attorney in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Litigation Practice, has been selected for promotion to major in the United States Air Force Reserve.

James focuses on general litigation, intellectual property, and matters involving patents and trademarks. He is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

A veteran of the United States Air Force JAG Corps, James joined Balch in July 2020. As an active duty judge advocate for five years, James served primarily as a military prosecutor, gaining robust courtroom experience and litigating a variety of criminal matters which included sexual misconduct and cybercrimes. During tours in San Antonio, Denver and Djibouti, James advised commanders in all service branches on a broad range of legal issues, including administrative law and federal regulatory compliance.

In 2019, Balch was named a ‘Veteran Friendly Employer’ by the Birmingham Business Journal. Balch proudly works to cultivate a culture that encourages, celebrates and recognizes military service. Balch is currently home to over 15 veterans who represent almost every branch of the military and contribute positively to the culture of the firm daily.
