Balch & Bingham Launches Balch BIPOC Lawyers Opportunities, Culture and Connection
Balch & Bingham is proud to introduce Balch BIPOC Lawyers Opportunities, Culture and Connection (Balch BLOCC), an affinity group for our BIPOC lawyers.
“Balch BLOCC was created to actively support BIPOC lawyers by fostering cross-office friendship, mentorship, and sponsorship,” said Tashwanda Pinchback Dixon, Chair of Balch BLOCC and partner in the firm’s Atlanta office. “We work to highlight the unique challenges facing racially and ethnically diverse communities and promote increasing the number of racially and ethnically diverse groups within the firm and throughout the legal profession.”
Through this initiative, Balch has hosted numerous recruiting activities and events, such as a networking reception at Howard University School of Law, a diversity expo at Washington University, and roundtables with numerous student-led affinity groups across Balch’s footprint.
“To me, Balch BLOCC is all about visibility, awareness, and progress,” said Chris Caudill, Balch BLOCC member. “Balch BLOCC is a unique organization that highlights the strengths of Balch’s lawyers who come from underrepresented communities. For younger lawyers like myself, Balch BLOCC serves as a network for opportunity, support, and advancement. It not only recognizes different perspectives and opinions but truly welcomes and values them.”
As part of our Firm’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion goals, one of our key priorities is to support internal and external opportunities for growth and mentorship of our lawyers who are members of underrepresented demographic groups. Balch BLOCC is one of the many avenues to achieve our goals as we believe that it takes the collective action of every member of the firm to support our efforts.
