James A. Bradford

Over the course of my practice in eminent domain and condemnation law, I have represented electric, gas, and water utilities, airport and housing authorities, and individual and business landowners in direct and inverse condemnation cases.. In the areas of real estate and title litigation, my clients have included title insurance companies, homeowners, business owners, mortgage lenders, and electric utilities.

I have represented individuals and businesses in a wide variety of litigated matters involving contract, eminent domain, insurance, landlord-tenant, professional negligence, real estate, and tort law.  In recent years, my practice has been concentrated in the area of real estate law,  with a focus on the law of titles, title insurance, and real estate information services, and in the area of eminent domain and condemnation law.

I have devoted much of my community service efforts to the support of public and private education, serving as a trustee of The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, as president of the board of trustees of Advent Episcopal Day School in Birmingham, Alabama, and as a co-chair of the Parents’ Leadership Council of Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. I have previously served as a member of the English Advisory Committee of the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s School of Arts and Humanities, and as a member of the Counseling and Guidance Committee of the Birmingham City Schools System. My interest in legal education is reflected in my service as a member of the Alabama Board of Bar Examiners since 2003.
