About Pete
Q&A
  • What types of clients do you represent?

I regularly represent both large and small clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to small, local businesses and individuals, who have had the misfortune to have others allege wrongdoing or assert claims against them. The early years of my practice were almost exclusively devoted to representing individuals and smaller, local entities. As my practice has grown to include larger, regional and national clients, I continue to enjoy those bonds formed years ago but find great satisfaction in developing relationships with the people of the larger companies with whom I work. A successful attorney-client experience is all about responsiveness and relationship, and working with my clients is the most rewarding aspect of practicing law.

  • What type of matters do you work on most often?

I am continuously working on serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, many of which involve claims of defective products, negligent conduct, or both, as well as claims brought against employers under the Alabama Workers' Compensation Act. My jury trial knowledge has developed most recently through defending manufacturers of heavy equipment, lawn and garden equipment and other products which has enhanced my effectiveness in all areas of my practice. I have also regularly defended cases alleging fraud in the business relationship or the insurance sales context, and have successfully handled cases brought against licensed sellers of alcoholic beverages under the Alabama Dram Shop Act.

  • How are you involved in your community?
  • What previous experiences, prior to your work at Balch, influence your practice?
