I expect an uptick in coverage litigation under cyber and crime policies. Social engineering fraud and other types of computer crimes are growing rapidly. Policyholders often do not realize until it’s too late the limitations on the types of coverages sold to protect against these types of risks. I also expect to see an uptick in the number of claims against insurance brokers for failing to procure adequate coverage. 

I am active with the Rotary Club of Birmingham Sunset and served as the Club’s inaugural Rotary Foundation Chair. I am a youth leader at Trinity United Methodist Church and an assistant den leader for Cub Scout Pack 352 in Vestavia.  

I am also involved in the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section.  This year I am serving as the Program Co-Chair for the Mid-year Meeting of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee.  

I often describe my job as solving puzzles. Every day, I am trying to solve how to obtain the most favorable result for my client as efficiently as possible. I do that by thinking strategically and seeing the big picture. 

 After law school, I clerked for the Hon. Emmett R. Cox and the Hon. Virginia Emerson Hopkins. Working with these distinguished jurists gave me first-hand experience with judicial decision making and allowed me to learn from their nearly 75 years of combined legal experience. A decade later, I am still using the things I learned from Judge Cox and Judge Hopkins daily.  

Before law school, I obtained an M.A. in history. As a historian, I learned to piece together disparate evidence into compelling narratives.
