In an article published by The Daily Report on April 30th 2021, Balch & Bingham Partner Anne Kaufold-Wiggins, was featured in her role as a member of the state of Georgia's Judicial Nominating Commission. The Daily Report profiled all members of the committee in their article, Meet the JNC: To Rise to Bench, Most Lawyers Must First Pass Powerful Gatekeepers, highlighting the important role they play in shaping the state's judicial landscape.
First appointed by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp to the commission in early 2019, Anne is a part of a small group of attorneys who recommends candidates to fill open judicial positions across the state. The committee reviews applications and conducts interviews before making its recommendations to the governor, who ultimately has the final approval on appointments.
A member of the Litigation Practice, located in Balch's Atlanta office, Anne represents investor-owned electric utilities and electric membership corporations in a wide variety of issues. She regularly handles claims involving electrical contact, fires, toxic torts, nuisances, motor vehicle accidents, fraud, and more.
In addition to her role as a member of the Judicial Nominating Commission, Anne is the immediate past president of the board of directors for the Women's Energy Network of Greater Atlanta Inc. One of her passions is her service to the State Bar of Georgia, where she serves on the Georgia Commission on Continuing Lawyer Competency and the Bench and Bar Committee.
