Christy Boardman Kuklinski, attorney in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of Balch’s Corporate & Commercial and Banking & Financial Services Practices, has been appointed to the Alabama Securities Commission (ASC) by Alabama Governor Kay Ivey.
Governor Ivey selected Christy for the appointment following her nomination by the Alabama State Bar. The Alabama Senate confirmed her appointment on April 11, 2024. Christy’s four-year term begins immediately. The ASC regulates the securities industry in Alabama, protecting investors from securities fraud and preserving legitimate capital markets in the state.
“We are excited to welcome Commissioner Kuklinski to the ASC. Her extensive knowledge and diverse experience in financial services and securities will contribute significantly to the mission of ASC,” ASC Director Amanda Senn said in a press release announcing Christy’s appointment.
At Balch, Christy’s practice focuses on securities and other complex litigation, regulatory compliance, and a wide variety of business transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, financings, and corporate governance. Licensed to practice law by the States of Alabama, New York, North Carolina, and South Carolina, she has worked on securities matters across multiple states and involving both federal and state regulators. Prior to joining private practice, Christy clerked with the Honorable R. David Proctor in the Northern District of Alabama, and, prior to attending the University of Alabama School of Law, she worked as an investment banker.
Christy graduated from The University of Alabama School of Law, magna cum laude, where she served as a Senior Editor of the Alabama Law Review, was a member of the Campbell Moot Court Board, and earned distinctions such as being elected to the Order of the Coif and being recognized as a Hugo L. Black Scholar. She was also awarded a Master of Arts in Economics from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration, summa cum laude, from The University of Alabama.
