Phil Buffington Discusses Succession Planning on BankTalk Podcast

Phil Buffington, partner in the firm’s Jackson office and member of the Banking & Financial Services Practice is featured on the BankTalk Podcast’s recent episode, "Succession Planning with Shareholders."

Phil discussed proactive techniques that forward-looking banks use with their shareholders to prevent unexpected surprises for their Board of Directors. BankTalk released the podcast, its 95th episode, on April 30, 2024. 

Presented by Remedy Consulting, BankTalk Podcast highlights leaders and experts from the community banking sector. Each episode covers a different topic and features a guest sharing their expertise. 

Phil Buffington advises financial institutions throughout the United States on federal and state banking laws and regulations. For more than 30 years, he has served as a trusted advisor to community, regional and national financial institutions, helping them to assess and analyze regulatory, institutional and litigation risks. Phil counsels clients on a full range of issues, including federal and state regulatory matters, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, succession planning, strategic planning, capital planning and offerings, evaluating and assisting inthe development of new products and services, and responses to examinations and enforcement actions. His practice also includes commercial lending transactions, health care and insurance. 

Earlier this year, Phil spoke on succession planning at the Independent Bankers of America Annual Conference. He has been recognized by Mid-South Super Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America®, including as a former “Lawyer of the Year” in commercial finance law.
