Mark E. Bond

I work directly with corporate energy and utility companies on various real estate related matters, which include large-scale real estate acquisition projects for mining lignite for purposes of generating electricity, including coordination regarding fee purchases and leasing. I also assist with challenges to valuation regarding ad valorem assessments and assist with eminent domain matters. 

I also represent public agencies of the State of Mississippi regarding public procurement and purchases, including providing counsel regarding bid protests and other corporate governance matters including, without limitation, the Administrative Procedures Act and the Public Records Act.

In addition, I assist real estate owners (both individuals and business entities) and financial institutions in commercial closings, litigation regarding easements, heirship confirmation, suits to quiet and confirm title and enforcement or abandonment of condominium, and homeowners' association restrictive covenants.      

I most often work with clients that are corporate energy and utility companies and various state agencies. However, I also assist financial institutions and real estate owners (both individuals and business entities) on a variety of transactional and litigation matters.

Prior to joining Balch, I worked in banking and specialized in consumer and commercial lending. These experiences have influenced my practice by allowing me to have a greater understanding of the lending process and allowed me to gain invaluable experience to a broad array of the financial and legal needs of a variety of businesses and industries.

One of the most exciting parts of my job is being a part of the solution for complex legal problems that is the product of joint collaboration amongst our firm's great clients and my colleagues.
