Riley Roby named to Friends of the Freedom Rides Museum Board of Directors
Riley Roby, office managing partner of Balch’s Montgomery office and member of the firm’s Business and Government Relations Practices, was elected to the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Freedom Rides Museum in Montgomery, Ala for a three-year term.
In 1961 groups of volunteers made history by challenging the practice of segregated travel through the South. They called themselves Freedom Riders as they crossed racial barriers in depots and onboard buses. The 1961 Freedom Riders did not begin or end their journey in Montgomery, Alabama, but their arrival changed the city and our nation. The Friends of the Freedom Rides Museum is a non-profit organization, created by the Alabama Historical Commission, that is dedicated to supporting the history and legacy of the Freedom Rides stories and works to ensure the stories will continue to engage visitors in the place where their history was made.
Riley represents publicly-traded and closely-held companies, nonprofit organizations, quasi-governmental entities and individuals on general business and tax planning matters. He also counsels companies both deeply entrenched in Alabama and new to Alabama on a variety of matters involving Alabama government and its regulatory bodies.
He is actively involved in the Montgomery community through leadership positions with various organizations.
