Irving Jones Presents to Birmingham Education Foundation’s Senior Academy

Irving Jones, an attorney in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Litigation Practice presented to the Birmingham Education Foundation’s Senior Academy students earlier this month. His presentation inspired the students to continue their academic journey and offered practical tips for achieving their educational goals. 

Students participating in Senior Academy are preparing for the college admission and application process and complete sessions in financial literacy, financial aid (FAFSA), scholarship essays, virtual admissions discussions, and campus tours. 

The Birmingham Education Foundation (Ed) is dedicated to increasing the number of students in the Birmingham City Schools that are on the path to college, career, and life readiness. This is accomplished by cultivating a diverse network of people who demand excellence for students and inspire others to do the same.

Irving's practice encompasses environmental, commercial and employment litigation. His practice often involves resolving complex legal issues that require dynamic litigation strategies. Irving litigates on behalf of a variety of corporations and utilities across the southeast in both federal and state courts. Before practicing law, Irving was a counterintelligence agent for the National Security Agency.

Irving is the 2021 Susan B. Livingston Boot Camp for Success co-chair. Each year, Balch hosts the Susan B. Livingston Boot Camp for Success to equip incoming law students with the necessary tools to succeed in law school and throughout their professional careers.  The program focuses on attracting promising students from groups historically underrepresented in the legal profession and from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as students facing other significant barriers to entering the legal profession.
