Labor And Employment Team Presents at National Business Institute’s Live Online Seminar, “Mississippi Human Resource Law 2024”

Members of Balch & Bingham’s Labor & Employment Practice in the Jackson office presented on two topics at the live online seminar, “Mississippi Human Resource Law 2024,” hosted by the National Business Institute (NBI) on May 20, 2024.

The course addressed the latest changes in human resource laws at the state level, providing participants with essential best practices and updates on the latest rules and regulations. 

Ashley Cannady and Anne Harlan Latino delivered a comprehensive update on wage and hour laws, covering key tests for employers, independent contractor considerations, and the latest litigation and case law updates. 

Russell Dumas presented on drugs and alcohol in the workplace, discussing medical marijuana users, drug testing considerations, disciplinary actions, and the creation of comprehensive drug and alcohol policies.

At Balch, Ashley focuses on labor and employment litigation, providing advice to employers on all areas of work-related legal exposure, and business litigation. With a proactive approach, she helps her clients remain compliant with applicable laws. 

Russell concentrates on labor and employment and related litigation matters. Russell guides employers through the evolving legal landscape of labor and employment law by advising companies regarding compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and defending employers before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. 

Anne Harlan helps employers navigate the complex network of Federal and state employment laws. She can assist and advise in day-to-day compliance including hiring and firing decisions, disciplinary issues, and employee handbooks.
