Air & Waste Management Association Southern Section Conference

Join Balch & Bingham at the Air and Waste Management Association’s (A&WMA) 2024 Southern Section Conference on September 18 – 20 in LaGrange, Georgia. This three-day event will gather environmental professionals and regulators responsible for compliance with environmental requirements. 

Steven Burns, partner in the firm’s Birmingham office and member of the Environmental and Natural Resources Practice, will present, “Retirements, Renewables, Recycling: Solid Waste Issues for the Energy Transition.” 

Steven will discuss the energy transition underway, diving into wind generation, solar generation, batteries, and other alternative energy sources, focusing on how changes to the generation mix will affect solid and hazardous waste management now and in the future.

The A&WMA, a leading educational and technical organization, serves professionals involved in air pollution control and waste management. Through its conferences and resources, the organization equips members with tools and knowledge to support informed environmental decision-making and professional development. 

Steven advises clients on coal ash, waste and contamination, waterways, environmental justice, air and water quality, wetlands, protected species, and natural resources. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA), Alabama Chapter, and a three-time past Chair of the Chapter.
